Slab cleaning, grouting and sealing: the keys to protecting your pavers!

Paving slabs and polymer sand joints play an essential role in the aesthetics and durability of your outdoor landscape. To keep them looking like new and ensure their longevity, proper maintenance is essential - and one solution may start with a thorough cleaning and application of a protective sealant.

Why clean your tiles and joints regularly?

As the seasons go by, pavers are exposed to the elements, to the accumulation of debris, to the growth of weeds and to the formation of stains (oil, rust, moss, etc.). Regular cleaning helps :

  • Remove embedded dirt and residues that dull the color of tiles;
  • Prevent water infiltration, which can undermine soil stability;
  • Maintain the uniform appearance of your landscaping.

A good cleaning is also an opportunity to assess the condition of the joints and detect areas that need to be repaired or redone.

The importance of polymer sand: strong... but fragile

Polymer sand is a binder designed to harden when wet. This process ensures slab stability while blocking weed growth. But without proper maintenance, this material can disintegrate, be washed away by rain or deteriorate under the effect of freezing and thawing. The result: joints that become porous, allowing water to seep through and giving way to moss and weed growth.

Sealant: an essential ally

Applying a specialized sealant to your tiles and joints acts as a protective barrier against external aggression. Here are just a few of the benefits of a quality sealant:

  • Protects the color of pavers from UV rays;
  • Repels water, oil and stubborn stains;
  • Extends the service life of polymer sand;
  • Simplifies maintenance by reducing dirt build-up.

What's best? Depending on the type of surface and the product selected, we recommend applying a sealer approximately every 3 years.

Trust the professionals

Pressure cleaning, polymer sand reapplication and sealant application require precise know-how to avoid costly mistakes such as premature joint erosion or uneven product application. By entrusting these tasks to an experienced team, you can be sure of long-lasting, safe work... and impeccable results!
